Sunday 4th May

The first Cuckoo of the year was the highlight with other migrants limited to a Garden Warbler by the Main Pond and 10 Wheatear scattered around site. Overhead 96 Swallow slowly trickled east during the mornng along with two Goldfinch, two Swift, a House Martin and a Yellow Wagtail. Wader counts included 48 Whimbrel, 25 Dunlin, 17 Sanderling, four Bar-tailed Godwit, two Grey Plover and Knot with single Dark and Pale-bellied Brent Goose also in the estuary.  Elsewhere 32+ Sandwich Tern and two Shoveler were offshore.
