Tuesday 27th May

The first Black Tern of the year flew in off the sea in the evening and headed upriver, also offshore two Roseate, a single Arctic and 28+ Sandwich Tern. Wader numbers had increased with 60+ Sanderling, 42+ Ringed Plover, 15+ Dunlin, two Grey Plover and two Whimbrel over the evening tide. Elsewhere the Slavonian Grebe was in the estuary and new fledgers included Blue Tit and Magpie with increasing numbers of Starling also foraging around site.
